Bring it on 2006
January 3rd, 2006 7
It’s been a strange one this year. Being back at work, freezing my butt off, is given me chance to reflect on everything that’s happened in the last week. A week? Has it really only been a week? It seams like a whole other world
I was upset to learn of the passing of a very cool person just after Christmas. Although I didn’t really know her, the little time I’d spend with her had shown me what strength she had. She’ll be sorely missed.
Christmas also gave me opportunity to reflect on where I am in my life. And that I cannot any longer piss about when It comes to my faith. I’m a Christian, and damn proud to be one! I need to focus my attention on God. Someone amazing helped me realise this, if you’re reading this, you know who you are. Thank you. You rock. You and you’re family.
So this is it, the first post of 2006, with hope for the coming year. God bless you all.

Cool - looking forward to seeing the new site all styled up - and perhaps finished. (One can dream!)
On religion - personally I’ll be watching with interest “The Root of all Evil” (Channel 4, Monday 9th January, 8:00PM), that talks about “religion as the cause for much of the pain and suffering in the world”. I think you should too Jon, as I would like to then hear the other side of the story (or perhaps even better read about it on this blog). What do you say?

“religion as the cause for much of the pain and suffering in the world”… A phrase I wouldn’t nessasarly disagree with at the moment. I’m talking about faith, which I believe is fundamentally different to religion.
I’ll be watching “The Root of all Evil” with interest. Cheers for the heads up.

Hey, I’m all for faith, it’s religion (and it’s role in today’s society) that I have increasing concerns about.
Anyway, on a far lighter subject - I see your using WP 2.0 (big improvement - certianly in terms of the admin panel, although the faux templating language still bugs me), how’s about some gravatars - or are you waiting for a plugin that supports 2.0?

I’m just making sure the basics work before I plug in things like Gravatars, although it may be time to stick these in.
I’ve realised the hidden power of pages, and using different templates for specific pages in WordPress. Move over Movable Type, WordPress 2 is coming through!

WordPress has a long, long, long, way to go before it leapfrogs Movable Type - fact!

“religion as the cause for much of the pain and suffering in the world”
Religion is like a lot of things, not evil in itself, but the use to which it is put can be.
Many cultures (including Christianity) have gone to war in a ‘holy cause’, but none of the various religious scriptures condone killing for any reason.
