My Spritual Home?
January 8th, 2006 4
Being a Walsall boy by birth, I’m very much inclined to do down my home town. Walsall admittedly could be described as a shit hole, having been done down by such literacy geniuses as chav towns and even Google. But I would like to offer a different point of view.
Walsall isn’t what he buildings look like, or the amount of money spent on some new statue in the middle of town - It’s the people. I’m sure this is true of anywhere you live… In the words of Vic…
People Are Important
So I’d like to stand against all the crap spoken about Walsall, and say if we are to improve our town we should be proud of it! It’s a diverse miss-mash of people who for the most part are brilliant. Yeah, we have our problems and our rough areas, but where doesn’t? Thank God for Walsall, and the people in it. We really could be great!

Yeah, Walsall may look like a graffiti artists dream of mass concrete & bricks but its the people that live around the town that make it what it is. We dont need hugh celebrational features in our town to define who we are, we have a concrete hippo & are happy with it.

I must admit there are some great people in Walsall but on the whole i do find it very difficult to defend the place. If anybody asks you what makes Walsall different/better than anywhere else what can you say? not a lot!

As a man that’s seen just a small (but yet still large enough) portion of this earth, I can indeed conclude Walsall *is* a shithole.
But there is hope - it’s still one better than Carlisle, where not only the town is crap, but the people are too!

I was brought up in West Brom, but not far down the Walsall Road, some 40 odd years ago. I’ve lived in Walsall for a few years now. I dunno if it’s a Walsall thing or a Midlands thing, but alot of the people I’ve encountered are difficult to talk to (unless your pissed)and they don’t understand a quirky sense of humour (unless they’re pissed). As people in our twenties, me and my mates could have a laugh, but as they get older life’s all so serious. I wish people could lighten up a bit.
