Procrastination
February 28th, 2006 23
Over a week since my last post!? I’d been really getting into this writing thing too. To be honest with you I have six draft posts that I’ve half written and not published. Mainly because I’d write a line and then think “Crap, what would people think if they read that?” and given up and gone off to write about “safer” subjects.
Much like Lloydy I have a great desire to spew for all to read (or, in this case, not), but to construct posts of intelligence and wit (feel free to laugh out loud at this concept) and NOT the arbitrary “Today I went to the loo three times, and had corned beef hash for my tea”.
So then what am I trying to say? Maybe nothing, maybe I’m filling the void - bridging the gap until I have something remotely interesting to say. Or grow some balls and say what I really mean.
Until then, I hope this has kept you relatively entertained. I’m glad I could fill up 16 seconds of you day.

you really dont have much to say do you? you could write a post on how one of your bestest mates went and saw the amazing kelly clakeson last night, and was 10 rows from the front in a room with 11,500(ish) other people! that’d be interesting! ahhh….what a night!

I look forward to the day you grow those balls and wait with baited breath for the resulting post. God has called us to stir up, not to bring namby-pamby feelgood factor. Why should you care about what people think of you? It is what God thinks that is surely infinately more important.

I think as you said, posting about my latest “episode” would be premature, but I intend to post about it or something related soon, and I know that most people will laugh in my face about it. Since Jesus faced far worse for me, I don’t really give a monkeys.
I’m sorry if I sounded patronising and/or holier-than-thou, it’s just that I’m feeling so fired up!! I am not holier-than-thou by any means. We’re teamates on the same path, soldiers in the great battle.
I was also thinking of emailing all this, but then I realised that it was because I was worried about what people would think about me, and, well, I’d be a big hypocrite then wouldn’t I?
Keep on growing.

Personally I would prefer less ‘preching’ - but hey it’s not my blog!

I wasn’t aware that I was ‘preaching’ sorry that you feel like that. I’m just writing about the stuff that affects me.

Surely a blog is a place where you can be honest about your feelings and experiences, and if being a Christian is something important to you, you should have the freedom to talk about that. Afterall, others don’t have to read it or agree with it. And why does the word “preaching” have such negative conotations? My father is a vicar, and he preaches every week, but only to those who will come and listen, he, and I, as his daughter, do not tend to preach to deaf ears, preaching is for the growth of those who are already Christians, not a verbal-bashing of those who are not. We are Christians, but we’re not in the business of forcing people to believe what we believe. All we’re doing is being open about what God is doing in our lives. That’s not preaching, it’s sharing.
Jon should feel free to write about whatever he wants, not what I want, and not what anybody else wants. It should sometimes be something that can be applied to others and might make others think (as it is publicly posted) but that is not a necessity.
I’d MUCH rather he posted about deeper things he is pondering and thinking about (even if I don’t agree with them, because I don’t always!) than told us about the mundane nitty gritty of every day life - although that’s sometimes OK too.
We seem to be going towards freedom of speech for everyone but Christians in the UK. And yes, I know that’s controversial.
Let the Starberri bashing commence. *grin*

I guess it depends on your definition of ‘Preach’. If by that you mean forcing people to listen to your point of view when they’ve made it quite clear that they don’t want to hear it, then no, I’m dead against that kind of ‘preaching’. It’s like the guy with the bible and the megaphone, I don’t think that does anything at all other than to wind-up all who hear it.

And again we post a comment at exactly the same time. Weird.

I know… dude, it’s like a seventh sense, I know when your posting and commenting so I get there and do the same.

At least it’s one way to bump up the comments on this post. It doesn’t deserve this many

I agree with you Jon that preaching to people who don’t want to hear it will only have a negative effect. I was preached at from a young age before I had the freedom to choose (My Mother, Father and Sister are at Church at least 3 times a week).
As a result, I don’t go!

3 times a week?! that is a LOT!

If i had a proper blog i’d probably bore everyone with cars hehe.

Lloydy, Derv, Kris, agreed, nobody should be FORCED to go to church. But church does not = Christianity, and Jon isn’t and never has been a preachy christian anyway. Man, if you think his is bad, you should read mine!

Man, I’ve had to wait two bloody days before you two would pick up that ball and run with it - and run with it you did!! Nothing like stiring it up from a far hey! I guess what I was saying is that I would like to see a greater variety of content.
I think you are a great blogger, writer - creative genius even! But content over the last few months , whilst still well written, has seemed to have stemed the creativity, variety and intrestingness!
But please note the get out clause here, it is your blog, so I am perfectly fine with you writing what you want to write (the same get out clause allows me to bore people with CSS, anti-capitalism and self promotion - sans your creativity). I just find myself reading less of your posts. My bad.

A little thought about Church…
3 Sunday morning get togethers (’services’) a week would freak me out, bore me to death or both… That’s why I belong in WCC with Jon, Hann and the rest of the crew! Amongst tons of other reasons.
Another pondering about Church…
I’ve not totted up how many hours per week, on average, I spend with Hann, Jon, Starberri, and many other Christians from our Church and others worldwide. I know it’s lots of hours. Now that!! as far as I’m concerned! is CHURCH!!
Some may beg to differ. I don’t mind. I like it better worldwide and versatile.
As for blogs and procrastination, lack of stricking inspiration etc, I talk the scariest amount of drivell on my blog, and post the most random things, mostly on the spur of the moment. Little change from how I talk really.
So Jon can say what he likes.

So much for a 16 second post! I’m almost ashamed that most of the comments are longer than the original content. Cheers Lloydy for dropping that ‘ball’ (?!) And for everyone else putting your 2p in.
