Phew!
May 30th, 2006 10
Last night I got in rather late and tiered from driving the 200 miles back from Katie’s gaf ‘daan sarf’. Before going to bed, I decided to check my email. Amongst the 1000’s of mail from fans and such, nestled one from ebay informing me that I had a new message from another member. Blurry eyed, I clicked on the link and proceeded to enter my username and password. Ok, I admit it, this was universally stupid.
I didn’t actually think any more of this until today, when I got two emails that actually were from ebay confirming my new listings of a couple of shiny brand new power mac G5’s. “Oh *****” I thought.
Luckily the very nice customer care people sorted it all out for me, and I’ve changed ALL my passwords on everything so those nasty people can’t pull another fast one. Just shows, you can never be too careful.

I would normally call you an idiot, but seeing as I have had a similar experience, I will refrain from doing so
A few years ago I got an e-mail purporting to be from Kris with an .zip fil attached. Unluckily for me I was using my laptop PC at the time (can’t think why, I must have been feeling ill…) and also wasn’t fully concentrating. As soon as I opened the attachment I realised what I had just done, and quickly made my way towards my trustly virus checker.
It’s a shame that this is one of many annoyances out there on the net today. This is especially true of e-mail - what once was a useful system of communication, is now beset with numerous instances of spam, viruses, phising etc.
Thing is, as we come to rely on this stuff more, so the bastards will try harder at making our online lifes more difficult than they need to be.

Its funny really, as soon as you become a victim of classic “fraudalitious” you automaticlly blame it on you being to tired so you wernt in the right frame of mind to realise how dumb you were being.
Jon: “Last night I got in rather late and tiered from driving the 200 miles back from Katie’s gaf ‘daan sarf’. Before going to bed, I decided to check my email.”
Jon you even wrote an entire introduction to clear yourself of your stupidity.

heh, indeed Dee, it’s all a clever ruse to cover up just how stupid I was.

Kris, how about sharing the wealth a little? After all, he’s not going to miss the odd £100 here and there…
