Dudes: Dunked

June 19th, 2006 14

I know I said I was taking a short break, and I still am, but this is just a short break from the short break to bring you this one post…

It was an amazing privilege to see four people I know and respect get baptised. For those of you that don’t know, the idea behind baptism is as a declaration of faith. It says that you’ve chosen to follow the message of Jesus, and symbolises new life, basically you believe and get dunked! Maybe you should see what answers.com has to say about it.

A brilliant day for all involved! If you’re interested (probably only if you were there), you can see ALL the photo’s I (and whoever had my camera) took. Feel free to help yourself to the ones you want. You can find them here.

In my opinion you really should have been wearing Life Jackets. It only takes the smallest volume of water for someone to drown! With youngsters clearly present I would like to have seen Health & Safety issues at the forefront of the agenda.
Such events are all good and well until somebody stops breathing.
Remember to perhaps stop and think next time!
Safety First!

Luckily there was a leak in the pool, so the danger was minimised as the drowning level to run-out ratio was greater than the Grey-domino constant which, I’m sure you’re aware, governs the run-out rate of water in a baptism pool.

Surely to follow health and safety guidlines everyone should be wearing hi-vis jackets, have barriers round the pool and signs saying “warning! pool may be wet when water is in it”

Actually I have to spend 2 hours at work tomorrow sitting in the conference room watching a health and safety video covering such topics as ‘how to correctly hold a stapler’ and ‘pencils - a disaster waiting to happen’
I know we’ve slighly wondered off topic here but this stupid ‘where theres blame theres a claim’ culture has sent the country crazy. It wont suprise me if one day people being baptised have to sign a disclaimer promising they wont sue if they get water in their eyes.

Yeah whatever. More importantly looks like somebody has brought SlideShowPro! Did you get SlideShowPro Director too….? Dominey is an evil genius…

Yes, it’s all gone mad. But I suppose a deep bath sized pool in the middle of the floor could be quite a dangerous thing. As for the video that you’re watching Kris, any chance of a copy? Sounds better than watching paint dry, then waiting for it to age and flake off again.

Paul, yeah, I spend my cash on it. Didn’t get the director, but the plug in for iPhoto is awesome.

I have now watched my video and I can confirm that ‘work station wonder man’ dressed in orange spandex has really made me think about my posture.

Kris did the video not contain any information about the dangers of flying keyboard keys or people swinging computer mice in a helicopter fashion? i think these two are an increasing problem in the workplace and need to be addressed!

Don’t get baptised if you’re afraid of death.
