 rdc classic and langshott mods

  • November 22nd, 2005

me and paul have noticed more and more modifications of the rdc classic & langshott themes, and thought it would be nice to get a collection of links to other blogs that use a slightly different flavour of either of the rdc themes.

If you’ve taken the time to create a mod of one of our themes please take the time to post a link as a comment here… yeah, just here… no, left a bit… there you go.

A short description of what you’ve done would be nice too!

My site has kept the same styling as the original RDC 0.7 theme. On the front page I’ve added recent comments and trackbacks and when viewing an individual post I’ve also added related posts in the side bar.

The main change I’ve made to the way the theme works is the addition of an “Edit this” link to the post title, but only admin users will get to see that. You can view the details of this mod on this page.

Thanks guys for the great theme!

Greetings - using a modified 0.6 version on my site “dreisechzig.net”. Mainly header graphics and a bit of reformatting in the sidebar. Still experimenting with some details and trying to make the switch to 0.7

Thanks for the work,

Boris

I’ve used the rdc theme but I change the color scheme, delete de top bar, translate to my language (spanish), add some intereting things like “Edit this” or a thing that I think it’s very important, who wrote the post.
My website is here: The Decline
One thing that I can’t solve is how to make a code for Continue reading. If there’s no more text to read that Continue reading dosen’t appear, and when there’s more appears. I don’t know if you understand what i want to say.

Is it possible to get a hold of the source file which was used to create the green stripped gradient headings/backgronds?

I want to change the colour, thats all :)

Many thanks!

Do you know if the RDC theme is compatible with WordPress 2.0? It is currently at RC3 and final is approaching soon.

Hey Jon… Yes I have used your wonderful theme, and mangled it a bit (ok, big time) ;-) I basically used your design as the best point of departure and I hope to someday feel that I transformed into something close to my style. Thanks so much for providing the necessary inspiration.

BTW… How come the “More” link in WordPress 2.0 does not work on your theme? I cannot get to split long entries. I am also unable to get the “Edit This” feature of Adrian Ritchie working, nor Gravatars. Hmmmm

Hello,
I’ve modified v0.7 in the following ways:

- translated to Danish
- made it wider and inserted another right-column
- removed breadcrumb (my site is not that big)
- removed hardcoded timestamps from php and used wp-tags instead, so the settings from the admin module works
- inserted some css2.1 to illustrate external links

I believe that’s it. If anyone is interested in using the template I will be more than happy to translate back into English and send the files..

- I switched the font as well

I used Kimblim’s excellent mod as a starting point for my own modification. (he was nice enough to give me a copy!) I liked the idea of having the extra sidebar, and the fact that he translated everything to danish (my site is in danish too!)
I’ve changed just a couple of minor things:

- Added my own header-picture
- Changed the colours to match my header-picture
- Changed some of the spacing between elements

BTW… I’m also having troubles with the “More” link (I’m using WP2, just like David Gómez-Rosado stated a few comments back).

I’m using a slight variation on your theme as well. I mostly just tweaked the fonts a little bit for readability for grandparents, etc. I did a few other things but I’ve forgotten what they were!

Thanks for a great theme. It’s far and away my favorite.

I’m using a modified version of rdc* with Movable Type:
http://www.solistella.com

I tried something a teeny bit different graphically and in the sidebar. But I the page build is basically the same. I love the little details in your css, and I’ve found the wrap and floating elements are pretty consistent across all browsers. (One thing that drives me INSANE when I’m creating my own layouts in CSS!)

Kudos and thanks for the rockin’ layout!

I made a mod. Matblogg.se (link). But the menu item “Bildarkiv 2″ jumps up a little bit in IE 6. Very strange error. But everything else looks really fine. Love this theme!

:

At my blog matblogg (www.matblogg.se) i got some problems with my menu items.

1. In IE 6 the menu item “Bildarkiv 2″ jumps up a bit in a strange fashion.

2. In Safari (And so heard, Opera), the menu moves to the left, instead as in IE and Firefox to the left.

My CSS files is located: http://www.matblogg.se/wp-content/themes/rdc0.7/_css/base.css and http://www.matblogg.se/wp-content/themes/rdc0.7/_css/langshott.css

Be careful, it’s in German, joke

How do you “widgetize” RDC?
